A balcony to the Raramuri culture, revolution history, and the beauty of a 1760m canyon.
We start this trip in "Los Mochis" (sea level) with an exciting railway trip reaching the oak and pine trees at the higher elevations of the canyon at 2500 m. In this area the Raramuri or Tarahumaras Indians have lived for many centuries. You can get in touch with this culture; know their way of living, handicrafts, and colorful authentic clothing. The city of Chihuahua offers to the visitor a rich colonial history and interesting artistic buildings like the Cathedral with a Churriguresque style from the 18th century.
Highlights:
Visit Los Mochis and stay at the beautiful hotel Posada de Hidalgo. This colonial house was founded by a Spanish conquistador in 1564.
Take the train. This rail-line is one of the world finest engineering wonders with its 39 bridges and 86 tunnels. You can watch spectacular sceneries:

Stay at Hotel Divisadero located right in the edge of the Copper Canyon. This hotel has a privileged location right in the rim of the canyon.
Trek to the bottom of the canyon crossing deep ravines and 4 different types of vegetation from tropical jungle to oak trees.
Visit Creel. This is a regional center for the Tarahumaras Indians surrounded by pine trees and beautiful mountain meadows. This village was founded in 1907 and still has an old operating railroad station.
Hike to Cusarare water falls and row at Lake Arareko. This is one of the most interesting areas around the Sierra Madre in the heart of the Tarahumara country.
Visit Historic Chihuahua:
Mansion Gameros: Almost a century old building that served several uses, from president Carranza residence to a hospital. The building is a sample of french eclecticism with an influence of art nouveau. Today is a University Cultural Center that hosts temporary art showings.
Historic Museum of the Mexican Revolution: Previous property of General Francisco Villa. You will find Villa's posessions, weapons, historic documents and an interesting army collection of the revolution.
